With over a decade of experience in the field of teaching, Shobana is a highly skilled and dedicated educator who has made a positive impact on countless lives. Her journey began in 2007 at the Dyslexia Association of Singapore (DAS), where she started her teaching career.
A lifelong learner herself, Shobana holds two essential diplomas from Cambridge University, United Kingdom, including Professional Teaching for Trainers and Teachers, and Dyslexia Studies, which she attained in 2010. These qualifications equipped her with the expertise to address the specific needs of students with dyslexia and other learning differences.
As a Senior Educational Therapist at DAS, Shobana has taken on various responsibilities, such as providing personalized interventions for students with dyslexia and other learning challenges. Beyond the confines of the classroom, she has been actively involved in outreach projects to schools, tirelessly striving to raise awareness about dyslexia and promote inclusivity in education.
In 2011, Shobana ventured into teaching children with a more diverse range of learning needs, including Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Autism, and Down Syndrome. Her affiliation with the Down Syndrome Association as a Literacy and Numeracy Enrichment Trainer showcases her commitment to nurturing potential in all students, regardless of their challenges.
Beyond catering to students with learning differences, Shobana has also excelled in working with mainstream students and those in gifted programs. Her expertise in English and Maths, aligned with the MOE syllabus, has enabled her to help students attain top-notch grades, including A* achievements.
